Justice Anup Jairam Bhambhani of the Delhi High Court has restrained Visage Lines Personal Care Private Limited, the parent of Bombay Shaving Company, from airing a 'revised' version of its Switch4 razor advertisement, holding that it created no perceptible difference in impact from an earlier ad the company had already undertaken to withdraw, and has issued notice on Gillette India's related contempt application.
Gillette India had sued Visage Lines in CS(COMM) 1007/2026 over the original Switch4 campaign, alleging that it disparaged Gillette's products through a mocking 'uncle' character and a courtroom-set commercial that the Court found amounted to an outright mockery of judicial proceedings. The Court had directed the ad's takedown, and Bombay Shaving Company gave an undertaking to comply.
After the company released what it described as a revised version of the ad, Gillette filed a contempt application alleging it was the same disparaging advertisement in a different wrapper. By order dated 21 September 2026, Justice Bhambhani agreed, finding there was 'no perceptible difference in the impact' between the revised ad and the original, restrained Bombay Shaving Company from airing it, issued notice on the contempt application, and directed the company to file replies to both the contempt application and Gillette's pending interim-injunction application within a week, with the matter next listed on 5 and 7 October 2026.
